Whether you have a specific reason for wanting reflexology or would just like a relaxing treatment for wellbeing, please feel free to contact me.
I am married with 3 adult children, who are now making their own journeys in the world! I discovered reflexology 21 years ago when I was pregnant with my second baby and found it helped with many common symptoms of pregnancy.
I have been practising as a reflexologist for the last 15 years, and have seen many clients for fertility/maternity reflexology, general well-being, menopausal symptoms and more specific ailments.
I tailor all my reflexology treatments on an individual basis, so as to optimise the benefits for my clients having reflexology.
Over the years reflexology has become increasingly popular and more research is being undertaken to provide clinical evidence of the benefits of reflexology. Of course, if you have had reflexology before you will already be aware of the wonderful benefits.
There have been some positive research studies with reflexology, but in a world with ever increasing levels of stress in everyday life, it is important for people to take more responsibility for their own healthcare needs. Reflexology, for some, is the way to help with this.
Reflexology is a non-intrusive, non-invasive complementary health therapy, that can be effective in promoting a deep sense of relaxation, thus reducing stress levels and promoting wellbeing. Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, and introduced to the West in the early 1900’s.
It is a touch therapy and is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face, or ears correspond with different areas of the body. By working these corresponding areas, this in turn encourages balance within the body and therefore aides the body to work as well as it can.
Reflexology treatments can be tailored to your individual needs and so helps to restore the body's balance naturally. Reflexology is complimentary and can be given alongside conventional healthcare.
It should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. It is suitable for all ages from 6 weeks old through to your 90’s.
Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end-of-life care, and everyone in between. However, there may occasionally be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment.
You may wish to to opt for a one-off treatment or it may be more beneficial to have regular treatments initially, this will be discussed at your first session or when you enquire.
As a reflexologist, I do not claim to cure, diagnose, or prescribe and may advise you to see your GP or health professional prior to commencing reflexology
Before your first treatment, I will take a medical history and ask you to sign a consent form for the reflexology treatment, which is kept completely confidential. Reflexology involves you taking off your shoes and socks. I do normally gently clean your feet and use a natural or organic cream during the treatment. Not only do you benefit from the reflexology, but your feet will feel and smell lovely too. You may wish to talk during a treatment or you may wish to close your eyes, relax, and fall asleep, the choice is yours. Occasionally, you may feel areas of transient discomfort during the treatment, but generally, the experience should be relaxing. I would recommend a course of treatments, often between 4 and 6 treatments at weekly intervals, if for example, the reason you are seeking reflexology is for a chronic condition. This can be discussed over the telephone or at your initial consultation.
After or during a treatment, I may ask you for feedback - if an area on the foot was uncomfortable during the treatment or how you felt when you got home.
For example, relaxed? Slept well? No energy? This helps to plan the next treatment. Usually, after a treatment, you feel relaxed, notice yourself sleeping better, and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too.
You may wish to read the testimonials from one of my clients to see how reflexology has helped them. You can also find google reviews online.
I continue to add to my professional knowledge with post graduate courses. These include;
